2023 was a big year. Here’s what stood out to us.

We create our annual State of the Farmer report because at our core, we exist to serve farmers and ranchers and to help them thrive. From financial opportunities to greater global recognition for the good land stewardship producers everywhere are already practicing, hear what co-founder and 5th generation farmer John Fargher has to say about what stood out most to us in the report, and how we’re taking action.

🇺🇲 The industry will re-evaluate things that don’t increase profitability as much because input cost are increasing. Technology will be looked at hard, but it has to be sustainable and profitable.

Our biggest survey of all time

Nearly 1,000 people took our 2024 State of the Farmer survey, including 886 livestock producers

Understand respondents’ attitudes toward tech

57% of our 2024 respondents believe tech adoption is extremely vital to the future of the livestock industry

See what regen grazing styles are on the rise

73% of all global respondents reported practicing rotational grazing or another form of regenerative grazing

Explore reported sustainability program participation

25% of this year’s global respondents reported participating in a sustainability- or carbon-related program

See how livestock software adoption stacks up

75% of our survey respondents are already using livestock management software on-farm and on-ranch

Get a global perspective on government pressures

59% of all global respondents feel unsupported by government policies regarding the livestock industry in their country

🇬🇧 I think there will be more diversity more than anything, a shift to better meat quality from animals and breeds that provide good grazing conversion abilities. Especially with a focus on feed conversion rates to reduce herd carbon footprints.
